Lars_Christensen.jpg

We are delighted to introduce and welcome Lars C. Christensen back onto the Build London Live judging panel. Lars was a judge for Build London Live 2008 & 2009 and will now be joining us again for 2012. He offers this piece of advice to the entrants:

“If you are a serious player in the AEC industry, Build London Live 2012 is the global BIM arena for you to showcase your performance. I really hope the innovative owners, architectural, design and construction companies take the challenge. If you have ambitions but not much experience with BIM projects, this is a superb setting where you and your team can learn a lot and test your abilities with the best”

Lars is well-known as a leading buildingSMART evangelist in Norway. As the senior advisor for Virtual Design, Construction and FM at multiBIM and the co-CEO of buildingSMART International (former IAI International); Lars advises on the efficient use of openBIM in projects. Prior to that, Lars was the Technical Programme Manager for the Norwegian buildingSMART project including working for a variety of AEC companies where he gained his professional expertise. A graduate from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NUST), Lars has worked with engineering, ICT development & deployment and property development in the AEC industry for more than 20 years covering real projects and academic research.

For the last 3 years, Lars has helped owners, design teams, construction and FM companies deploy openBIM in more than 90 projects. Lars recognises that the industry faces a huge educational challenge to truly utilize BIM and that currently the “I” is missing from most projects. In order for the industry to understand the potential of BIM and openBIM, Lars has been involved in many health care projects which have demonstrated that if BIM and openBIM can be utilized in such complex projects, it will also work in simpler and smaller projects. A breakthrough achievement was his participation in a large hospital development project - Prosjekt Nytt Østfoldsykehus to develop an 86000m2 cross disciplinary openBIM based coordination model in 2010.

Currently, Lars is focusing on what he calls “BIM 2.0”, which is the more advanced use of BIM in areas such as laser scanning, 4D-time, 5D-cost, life-cycle-assessment (LCA), climate gas analysis and greenBIM. He is also involved in several IPD or “integrated project delivery” projects utilizing BIM as a collaboration accelerant. Lars was also a judge at Build London Live 2008 & 2009 and Singapore 2011.

The entire event team are excited to have Lars join us again to support Build London Live and make it a great event for everyone.
